Noli – the Gem of the Italian Riviera

Hello? Anyone out there who still hasn’t had their vacation this year? Liguria is basically summer on repeat all through September and even into October! The Italian side of the Ligurian Sea has no shortage of dreamy corners, but Noli? That’s the one that stole my heart ❤️

La Riviera – Italian style

The Italian Riviera is the eastern extension of the French Riviera, the famous Côte d’Azur. A drive along the winding seaside roads, with tall hills rising dramatically above the sea, is an adventure in itself. Deep, wide bays where the dazzling blue water meets lush Mediterranean greenery are a true feast for the eyes. Each time you emerge from another tunnel, the landscape gets even more breathtaking. Traveling this coastline, you can really feel freedom – because what else is it, if not that carefree mix of sun, wind, and sea ❤️

Oh-so-charming Noli

“Charming” pretty much nails it when it comes to Noli, a tiny town in the province of Savona. Its narrow streets, arched gates, and beautiful old churches could give many bigger cities a run for their money. This place has serious soul – those church bells don’t lie! No wonder it’s officially on the list of Italy’s prettiest small towns. And for a mini place, it’s loaded with history: a centuries-old cathedral tower, an 11th-century basilica, and the jaw-dropping San Paragorio church from the 5th–6th century. Oh, and fun fact: Noli was once a powerhouse maritime republic back in the Middle Ages. Small town, big story.

Noli – perfect autumn holidays

Noli is nestled between the land and the sea, with a beautiful beach and promenade, and above them hills crowned with a castle and viewpoints overlooking the town and neighboring Spotorno. Cape Noli, with its stunning sea color and water warm even in October, guarantees that unmistakable Italian holiday vibe well into autumn. The old fishing village charm makes the days feel intimate and the evenings wonderfully atmospheric. Off-season, it’s an absolute gem, with delicious seafood, local Ligurian dishes, and the kind of warm, friendly service (especially towards kids!) that makes you feel instantly at home.

Finale Ligure

A few kilometers from Noli lies the much larger town of Finale Ligure. Like the whole Ligurian coast, it’s framed by hills and divided into a seaside part with wide white beaches, a historic center, and the separate tourist district of Varigotti. Finale Ligure is truly elegant and pretty, with lovely squares, palm trees, and lively promenades. Its historic center is decorated with frescoes that appear in abundance on the gates and old buildings. The town is full of positive energy, buzzing with life, and has great little restaurants with outdoor seating along its atmospheric cobblestone streets. It makes for an ideal sunny day trip from Noli! And if the weather isn’t on your side, Genoa is a great backup – a big port city full of attractions for kids in indoor spaces perfect for rainy days 😉 You can get there easily from Noli by public transport. As for the city itself – that’s a matter of taste, but on a gloomy day it’s just the ticket!

So, why Noli?

Because it’s basically Italy in a nutshell: food, views, history, and that laid-back dolce vita energy. And in early autumn, you get it all without the crowds. Noli is small-town cozy, but the views are pure vacation mode ❤️ Honestly? Book a few days HERE already - you’ll thank me later.
